Video & Reviews Top Retailers Desired Site Features in 2010

Recently, our friends over at ReelSEO reported on some interesting survey findings in their blog post “Website Redesign, SEO & Video – Keys to Ecommerce Future”.  The survey that forms the basis of this article was conducted by Internet Retailer and examines the Web site design priorities of US online retailers in 2010.

The article states that 2/3 of eCommerce sites plan some sort of site redesign in 2010.  When polled on what general changes their redesign plans would include, better site organization and more effective SEO strategies top the list.  When the retailers were asked specifically what features they plan to include in their site redesign, incorporating video or streaming media came in first.  33.2% of respondents indicated that this was in their site redesign plans.  Adding user ratings and reviews was second, right behind adding video.

Well retailers, how do you feel about killing two birds with one stone?  The recently released Video Testimonial Widget was specifically designed to accomplish both of these functions in one easy-to-use widget.  As you may already know, the Video Testimonial Widget allows visitors to view and submit video reviews directly from the location of the embed.  What’s more, when submitting a testimonial or review the widget prompts users to classify their video as positive, negative or neutral.  This allows site visitors to gauge user reaction to a product or service without watching all of the videos.  This widget even offers a ‘tab’ embed option that reads ‘Reviews’ to grab a user’s attention.

It is a good feeling to know we are creating products that will serve the needs of our customers, and based on these statistics it seems the Video Testimonial Widget is one such product.
